The P&A Group is celebrating another milestone in its 40th anniversary year, having been shortlisted for the “Excellence in Sustainability” Award at this year’s Chamber of Commerce Annual Recognition Awards, taking place on Friday 14th November.
The Excellence in Sustainability Award recognises organisations leading the transition to a low-carbon, low-waste future. P&A Group’s nomination highlights its pioneering work in circular economy initiatives, particularly its pallet collection, repair, and reuse programme, which helps customers across North Wales and beyond cut waste, reduce carbon emissions, and save costs.
“We’re absolutely delighted to be shortlisted,” said Rhys Hughes, Director of P&A Group. “Sustainability is embedded in everything we do – from how we source our materials to how we heat our buildings. This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team and their commitment to making a positive impact locally and environmentally.”

Leading the Way in Sustainable Business
Circular Economy Leadership: P&A’s pallet recovery programme works with over 20 major manufacturers to identify closed-loop opportunities, reduce waste and emissions. Reusing pallets multiple times achieves up to 85% carbon savings compared with producing new ones.
Zero Waste Commitment: Over 600 pallets are repaired or recycled daily, with any residual wood repurposed as biofuel, animal bedding, or mulch, ensuring zero timber waste to landfill.
Renewable Energy Investments: The business has installed 200kW of solar panels across eight buildings and operates seven biomass boilers that heat both sites using wood waste. P&A also supplies local farmers with sustainable woodchip for fuel and bedding.
Woodland Creation: Through the Woodland Creation Scheme, P&A will plant 25 acres of new woodland in Denbighshire in 2026 – boosting biodiversity and capturing carbon for years to come.
B Corp Ambition: The company is in the final stages of achieving B Corp certification, recognising its high standards of social and environmental performance.
These efforts not only cut emissions but also support the local economy, create skilled green jobs, and strengthen community pride. P&A’s partnership with North Wales Wildlife Trust enables employees to take part in tree planting and habitat restoration, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability at every level.
“From reusing pallets to planting trees, sustainability sits at the heart of who we are,” Added Rhys Hughes.
The winners of the Chamber of Commerce Annual Recognition Awards will be announced on Friday, 14th November.
