A North Wales business group built on family values, sustainability and community commitment is celebrating a landmark achievement after becoming a Certified B Corporation.
P&A Group, based in Mold and home to divisions including Zest Outdoor Living, P&A Pallets and The Woodworks Garden Centre and Café, has officially joined the global B Corp movement: a community of businesses committed to balancing profit with purpose and using business as a force for good.
B Corp certification is awarded by global non-profit organisation B Lab to companies that meet rigorous standards across social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. The certification recognises businesses that consider the impact of their decisions on employees, customers, suppliers, communities and the environment alongside commercial success.
For P&A Group, the achievement reflects more than four decades of commitment to responsible business practices, supporting local communities and creating sustainable long-term growth across North Wales and beyond.
Founded in 1985, the Group has grown into a respected regional employer while remaining firmly rooted in the values on which it was built. Achieving B Corp certification places P&A Group among a growing international network of businesses striving to create positive change through the way they operate.
The certification follows a detailed and rigorous assessment across governance, employee wellbeing, community impact, environmental responsibility and customer care. It also follows the Group’s recent success in receiving the Excellence in Sustainability Award at the West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce Recognition Awards.
Andrew Baker, Managing Director of P&A Group, said:
“Becoming a Certified B Corporation is a proud moment for everyone across P&A Group. Pursuing B Corp certification felt like a natural fit for us because its ethos aligns so closely with our own purpose: to build a progressive and sustainable group of businesses that people choose to work with and work for, creating positive impact for our people, our partners, our communities and the environment.
“As a Group, we have always believed that business should make a positive contribution beyond commercial success. Whether through supporting our employees, working responsibly with suppliers, investing in our communities or reducing our environmental impact, we want to create lasting value for the people and places connected to our business.
“The certification process challenged us to look closely at every aspect of the business and demonstrate our commitment through evidence and accountability. It was not a simple tick-box exercise, and that is what makes this achievement so meaningful.
“This also follows our recognition with the Excellence in Sustainability Award at the West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce Recognition Awards, which shows that our focus on sustainability, people and responsible business is not a one-off initiative. It is becoming part of who we are and how we want to operate.
“While we are incredibly proud to join the global B Corp community, this is only part of a much longer journey. Certification gives us a framework to continue improving, challenging ourselves and ensuring we operate in a responsible and sustainable way for future generations.”
The B Corp certification applies across the wider P&A Group and its divisions, reinforcing a shared commitment to sustainability, ethical business practices, people, customers and community impact. As one of the growing number of B Corp-certified businesses in Wales, P&A Group hopes the achievement will inspire continued collaboration between businesses, communities and organisations working towards a more sustainable future.
The Group will also be using its upcoming Summer Fayre at The Woodworks Garden Centre on 4th July as an opportunity to celebrate the achievement with customers and the local community. The event will bring families together for a day of activities, including a talent show, garden bug hunt, traditional games, tombola and freshly made pizzas, while also helping customers learn more about what becoming a B Corporation means for P&A Group, its people and the wider community.
Founded in 1985, P&A Group comprises Zest Outdoor Living, a leading supplier of award-winning timber garden products, the Woodworks Garden Centre and Café in Mold, and P&A Pallets & Packaging.
